What is Wapping Kidds?
Staffed by volunteers with coaching experience, all of whom are fully DBS checked, Wapping Kidds aims to provide a regular Saturday morning training facility for local, primary school age boys and girls (ages 7-12). Children will learn skills, safety and game play over the course of each term, with a heavy focus on game play.
Who will be coaching my child?
Our coaching team is led by Sandra Akinbolu, who is supported by a team of fully DBS checked team of coaches from the broader Wapping Hockey Club.
Where do the Wapping Kidds sessions take place?
We train on Saturday mornings at the John Orwell sports centre in Wapping (E1W 2QD), from 9.30-11.00
Who attends Wapping Kidds sessions?
We welcome all players, from complete starters to kids that have been playing for a little while- our main aim is inclusion and getting as many children playing and enjoying hockey.
How much does it cost?
The cost is free for a couple of weeks - we like everyone to see if they like it first. After that it’s £2 a session per child. We can provide registration forms at the session.
What equipment do we need?
We can provide hockey sticks if needed. We do ask that suitable sport shoes (I.e trainers) are worn and we can provide further advice on shin pads etc if your children find this is something they would like to pursue.
